Year of death: 4.7 (998) Year of birth: Encho 1 (923) A government official in the mid-Heian period. He was called Takanii. His Buddhist name was Dokan. He was the son of Miyanaiki Yoshiomi and the daughter of Fujiwara Hirofumi, the Minister of Civil Affairs. He was known as a scholar, and began as a monsho at the age of 26, and served as Daigaku no Kami (Grand Chancellor), and at the age of 64 he was promoted to Jusanmi (Junior Third Rank) and a non-councillor thanks to the efforts of the Togu Gakushi (Chief Imperial Registrar). According to the Kokin Chomonshu, when he caught a glimpse of Fujiwara Michitaka (later the regent) secretly visiting his daughter Takako, he predicted that he would become a minister in the future, and allowed the two to have a relationship. When Sadashi, born during this time, became the Empress of Emperor Ichijo, Naritada changed his surname from Masahito to Ason and was promoted to Junii (Junior Second Rank). During his time as Dainaiki, he drafted the imperial edict appointing Fujiwara Saneyori to the regent, as well as other imperial edicts regarding the change of era. When his grandson, Ise (Michitaka's son), lost a struggle for power against Fujiwara no Michinaga, in 995 he had an onmyoji (a fortune teller of exorcism) place a curse on Michinaga. This was discovered and hastened the downfall of Ise and the Nakakanpaku family.
