[Born] Yi Tae King 27 (1890).5.8. Damyang, Jeollanam-do
[Died] December 30, 1945, Seoul. Korean intellectual and politician. Studied in Japan with Nong Hee II (1908). Entered Waseda University in 1901, transferred to Meiji University the following year, and graduated in 1915. Founded the ethnic newspaper "Dong-A Ilbo" in 1920 and became its first president. Sentenced to six months in prison in 1926 when the newspaper was suspended for the second time, resigned as president under pressure from the Government-General in 1931, and became an adviser to the Dong-A Ilbo in 1938. After liberation, in September 1945, he organized the National Assembly Preparatory Committee and the Korean Democratic Party, and became president when "Dong-A Ilbo" was relaunched. He was assassinated for criticizing the anti-trusteeship movement.

韓国の言論人，政治家。隆煕2 (1908) 年金性洙とともに日本留学。同4年早稲田大学入学，翌年明治大学転入，1915年同大学卒業。 20年民族紙『東亜日報』を創刊し，初代社長。 26年第2次停刊処分で懲役6ヵ月，31年総督府の圧力で社長辞任，38年東亜日報社顧問。解放後 45年9月国民大会準備会，韓国民主党を組織，『東亜日報』復刊とともに社長就任。信託統治反対運動を批判して暗殺された。
