All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd.
ANA is the abbreviation for All Nippon Airways. Founded in 1952 as Japan Helicopter Transport to revive scheduled air transport services that had been destroyed during the war. In 1957, the company adopted its current name. Operates routes from Sapporo to Tokyo to Osaka to Fukuoka, as well as many local routes. It ranks first in domestic transport performance, dominating the market with Japan Airlines. In 1986, it expanded into international routes. In 1999, it joined the Star Alliance, one of the world's largest airline alliances. It has also expanded into the hotel business, mainly in large cities and resort areas, but in 2007 it sold 13 hotels that were directly managed by the group to Morgan Stanley of the United States, and is concentrating on its core business. Headquarters in Tokyo. Capital in 2011 was 231.3 billion yen, and sales for the fiscal year ending March 2011 were 1.3576 trillion yen.
