ANA is the abbreviation for All Nippon Airways. Founded in 1952 as Japan Helicopter Transport to revive scheduled air transport services that had been destroyed during the war. In 1957, the company adopted its current name. Operates routes from Sapporo to Tokyo to Osaka to Fukuoka, as well as many local routes. It ranks first in domestic transport performance, dominating the market with Japan Airlines. In 1986, it expanded into international routes. In 1999, it joined the Star Alliance, one of the world's largest airline alliances.
