A village in Kanzaki County, northeastern Saga Prefecture. Population 1935 (1995). To the north, it borders Fukuoka Prefecture, separated by Mt. Sefuri (1055m). The entire village is part of the Sefuri Mountains, and the Jobaru River flows southeast through the center. Settlements are scattered between 150 and 500m above sea level, and agriculture and forestry are the main industries. In recent years, there has been an expansion in the shift from rice cultivation to highland vegetables, and the cultivation of konjac and persimmons is also thriving. There are also many beautiful cedar forests, and the village is known as a reforestation village. The upper shrine of Sefuri Shrine is located on the summit of Mt. Sefuri, and the lower shrine is located in Haramaki, upstream of the Tate River. From ancient times to the Middle Ages, the village prospered as Sefuri Senbo. 佐賀県北東部,神埼郡の村。人口1935(1995)。北は脊振山(1055m)を境に福岡県に接する。村全体が脊振山地に属し,中央を城原(じようばる)川が南東流する。標高150~500mの間に集落が点在し,農林業を主産業とする。近年,米作から高冷地野菜への転作が拡大し,コンニャクや柿の栽培も盛ん。また杉の美林が多く,造林の村としても知られる。脊振山の山頂に脊振神社上宮,田手川上流の服巻(はらまき)に下宮があり,古代から中世には脊振千坊と称され繁栄した。
