Japanese: 接着テープ - せっちゃくテープ

It is understood in the broad sense as adhesive tape made by applying adhesive to tape, but in many cases it refers to adhesive tape that uses a pressure sensitive adhesive, such as cellophane tape, and there are few types of tape that can be called adhesive tape, such as packing tape, where the adhesive hardens after use to complete the bond. There is also an adhesion method in which, instead of applying adhesive to tape, a synthetic resin adhesive is made into a film, which is allowed to harden slightly to give it shape retention, and then the film is pressed and heated to create an adhesive.

広い意味の接着剤をテープに塗布してつくった接着性のテープと理解されているが，たとえばセロハンテープのように粘着剤を用いた粘着テープを指す場合が多く，ガムテープのように，使用後に接着剤が固化して接着が完成する種類の本来接着テープと呼ぶべきものは少ない。なお，接着剤をテープに塗布してつくったものでなく，合成樹脂系の接着剤をフィルム状にして固化反応を少し進め，形状保持性を与えたものを被着体の間に挟んでプレス加熱して行う接着工法がある。
