Massalia

…The Phocaeans are said to have founded Marseille around 600 B.C., but around the same time, they also built colonies in the western Mediterranean, such as Ampurias in northeastern Spain. The ancient name of Marseille, which was built by the Phocaeans, was Massalia. Cities in southern France, such as Arles and Nice, were also founded by citizens of Massalia.
