Japanese: 性交不能症 - せいこうふのうしょう

A general term for symptoms that make sexual intercourse impossible. Organic impotence includes extremely short penises and other deformities or diseases of the vulva in men, and atresia of the hymen and vaginal agenesis in women. Paralytic impotence is caused by brain and spinal cord disorders or drug addiction, while neurological impotence is mainly caused by sexual neurosis, leading to erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation. Psychological impotence is caused by fear or aversion to sexual intercourse, leading to erectile dysfunction in men and vaginal spasms, dyspareunia, and orgasmic dysfunction in women. In men, it can also be caused by internal medical disorders such as diabetes. Erectile dysfunction in young and middle-aged men is generally called impotence.

性交の不可能な症状の総称。器質的不能には，男性では極端な陰茎短小その他の外陰部の奇形や疾患，女性では処女膜閉鎖や腟(ちつ)欠損などがある。麻痺(まひ)性不能は脳脊髄神経疾患や薬物中毒により，神経性不能は主として性的神経症により，勃起(ぼっき)不全や早漏を招く。精神的不能は，性交に対する恐怖や嫌悪によるもので，男性では勃起不全，女性では腟痙攣や性交不快症，オルガスムス不全が起こる。また，男性の場合は，糖尿病などの内科的疾患が原因となることもある。なお一般に，青壮年期における勃起不全は陰萎(いんい)（インポテンツ）と呼ばれる。
