Speranskii, Mikhail Mikhailovich
Born: January 12, 1772, Cercutino
Died: February 23, 1839. Petersburg. Russian politician. Count. From 1808, he worked on domestic reform as an aide to Emperor Alexander I. In 1809, he prepared the famous "Speransky Plan for Reforming the State" based on the separation of powers, but it was not adopted. In 1812, he was dismissed from his post and exiled, but later returned to politics and was appointed Governor-General of Siberia in 1819. He returned to the capital, Petersburg, in 1821, became a member of the State Council, and in 1830 supervised the compilation of the 45-volume Corpus of Laws of the Russian Empire (Polnoe sobranie zakonov Rossiskoy imperii).
