Edema -
Edema, commonly known as swelling, is a condition in which tissue fluid or lymphatic fluid accumulates in the cells and spaces between cells of the body. When this occurs in subcutaneous tissue, it is generally called edema (swelling), and when you press on the swollen area, a depression remains. Causes of edema include heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, myxedema, malnutrition, etc. Treatment involves treating the cause as well as administering diuretics.

浮腫(ふしゅ),俗にむくみともいう。身体の細胞および細胞間隙(かんげき)に組織液やリンパ液が貯留した状態。皮下組織に起こったものを一般に浮腫(むくみ)といい,むくんだ部位を押すとくぼみが残る。原因となる疾患は,心臓病,腎臓病,肝臓病のほか,粘液水腫,栄養失調など。治療には原因療法のほか利尿薬投与などを行う。
