A social, research and mutual aid group for officers of the former Japanese Navy. Incorporated association. Founded in 1876, it was the only officers' club officially recognized by the Navy until it was dissolved after Japan's defeat in World War II, and all naval officers, naval senior civil servants and officer cadets were members. It had clubs in Tokyo and other naval bases and important ports, and published a research journal, "Suikosha Kiji." After the war, it was re-established under the name Suikokai in 1952, and became a foundation in 1954. In addition to former Suiko Society members, it became a social group for former naval officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers and other former naval personnel, Maritime Self-Defense Force personnel and other interested parties.
