Shin Yun-bok (English spelling)

Japanese: 申潤福 - しんじゅんふく（英語表記）Sin Yun‐bok

A Korean painter from the Joseon Dynasty. Dates of birth and death unknown. Born in Goryeong. His pen names were Kabu and Huiwon. He was an artist at the Drawing Office, and was active as a genre painter along with Kim Hong-do in the early 19th century. He captured the customs of the common people with a satirical eye, and boldly depicted the glamorous world of entertainment. Many of his works are particularly excellent, particularly those featuring kisaeng (female entertainers), but his vivid portrayals of people in vibrant colors provided a new stimulus to the Joseon painting world. His representative works include Album of Genres and Portrait of a Beauty (both at Kansong Museum of Art, Seoul).

朝鮮，李朝時代の画家。生没年不詳。高霊の人。字は笠父，蕙園と号する。図画署の画員で，19世紀初期に金弘道とともに風俗画家として活躍。市井の風俗を風刺的な目でとらえ，遊興の艶冶（えんや）な世界を大胆に描いた。とくに妓生（キーセン）を対象とした作品にすぐれたものが多いが，その豊麗な色彩による生き生きとした人物描写は李朝画壇に新たな刺激を与えた。代表作は《風俗画帖》《美人図》(ともにソウル，澗松美術館)など。
