Japanese: 人格検査 - じんかくけんさ（英語表記）personality assessment(test)

A general term for methods of measuring and diagnosing personality from various perspectives. A type of psychological test. Used in education, industry, and clinical purposes, such as guidance, personnel management, and the differentiation of mental illness. There are many different methods and different aspects of personality that are measured, but they can be roughly divided into projective methods (techniques) and non-projective methods. Humans have an ego defense mechanism called projection, so by presenting ambiguous stimuli, it is possible to grasp a person's needs and conflicts and get closer to understanding their personality.

人格を種々の観点から測定，診断する方法の総称。心理検査の一種。教育や産業，臨床上の目的により，指導や人事管理，精神疾患の鑑別などに用いられる。方法は多様で，測定される人格の側面も異なるが，大まかには投影法projective method(technique)とそうでないものに分けられる。人間は投影(投射)という自我防衛機制をもっているので，あいまいな刺激の提示により，その人の要求や葛藤を把握し人格の理解に迫ることが可能になる。
