A town in Shiranuka District, eastern Hokkaido. It is located to the west of Kushiro City and faces the Pacific Ocean to the south. It is served by the Nemuro Main Line and the Doto Expressway. Most of the town area is made up of the Shiranuka Hills, where dairy farming is practiced and timber is abundant. Area: 773.53 km2 . Population: 9,294 (2010).
