A device that draws in indoor air, brings it into contact with the surface of a cooler to turn moisture into droplets, and returns the dry air to the room. It is an application of the refrigeration cycle. The first commercial dehumidifier in Japan was released in 1952 and was used in warehouses, telephone exchange rooms, libraries, etc. As homes became more airtight, moisture damage such as condensation and mold on walls became more common, so in 1968, household dehumidifiers were released. Most have a dehumidifying capacity of about 4 to 5 liters per day. Recently, there are more and more air conditioners with dehumidifying functions, but there are few that have this function alone.
