[Birth] Tongzhi 10 (1871).9.10. Anhui, Xu Died September 26, 1940. Hong Kong Chinese politician. He held a number of judicial positions since the Qing Dynasty, and joined the Kuomintang after the establishment of the Republic of China. In 1917, he became Secretary-General to Sun Yat-sen in the Guangdong government, and the following year, he also became Minister of the Judiciary Department. In 1919, he represented Guangdong at the Paris Peace Conference, and after the Kuomintang-Communist cooperation, he adopted a pro-Soviet and pro-Communist line. In 1927, when the Nationalist government moved to Wuhan, he led the anti-British movement, and succeeded in recovering the British Concessions of Hankou and Jiujiang. He was overthrown after the first Kuomintang-Communist cooperation was defeated, and went to Moscow. After returning to China, he participated in the Fujian Revolution in 1933, then fled to Hong Kong, where he was elected a National Councillor in 1938.
