A general term for public storage facilities established in ancient times in central and local government offices, post offices, temples, etc. In the center, there was a Shoso-gun (storehouse group) for storing tributes, and in each province, there was a Shoso-gun (storehouse group) for storing taxes. According to the tax register from the Tenpyo period (729-749), there were an average of several dozen Shoso-gun in each district. The area where Shoso-gun (storehouse group) were built together was called Shoso-in, and the Shoso-in attached to Todai-ji Temple in Nara still remains today. Most were grain storehouses (as well as salt storehouses, treasure houses, etc.), and many were full-pillared, raised-floor buildings that could withstand weight and avoid moisture. → Related Articles Gunke Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
