A village on the Yenisei River, 60km southeast of Minusinsk railway station in the Krasnoyarsk region in central Siberia, Russian Federation. During the Russian Empire, it was a place of exile for political prisoners such as the Decembrists and Narodniks. Lenin was exiled to this village from May 1897 to January 1900, and left behind over 30 works, including The Development of Capitalism in Russia. The residence he lived in at that time is now the Lenin Museum. It is currently in the spotlight as the center of the Yenisei Basin Comprehensive Development Plan.
