Japanese: 指腹婚 - しふくこん

An engagement arranged between parents with an unborn child as the parties. It is a type of prescriptive marriage in which the marriage partner is determined by a local group, relatives, family, or other unit, regardless of the wishes of the parties at the time of marriage, and its principles differ from those of preferential marriage, which is based on the free will of the parties. The name "jibe" comes from the fact that the engagement was concluded by pointing at the belly of the pregnant woman, and was widely practiced in ancient China.
