A Jewish Talmudic scholar active in the Maghreb and Al-Andalus during the expansion of the Almoravid dynasty. He is also known as Rif, an abbreviation of Rabbi Yitzhak Fassi. He was born in Qar'a Hammad, studied at Kairawan, and lived in Fas (Fes) (hence his name). His answers (responsa) to questions about the Torah sent to him by Jews from all over the world, who sought his fame, gave a distinctive shape to Talmudic research and education at the time. In his later years, he fled to Cordoba after being slandered, and taught at the academy in Lucena, where he died.

ムラービト朝拡大期のマグリブ，アンダルスで活動したユダヤ教タルムード学者。ラビ･イツハク･ファーシーの頭文字をとってリフRifとも略称される。カルア･ハンマードで生まれ，カイラワーンに学び，ファース(フェス)に住んだ(彼の名はこれに由来)。名声を慕って諸国のユダヤ教徒から寄せられた律法に関する質問への解答(レスポンサ)は当時のタルムード研究･教育に特徴的な形を与えた。晩年，誹謗を受けてコルドバに逃れ，ルセナの学院で教え，同地で没。
