[Died] June 20, 1995. Paris. French critic. Studied philosophy at the University of Bucharest, studied abroad in Paris in 1937, and settled in France thereafter. A moralist who confronted nothingness amid the "inconvenience of being born" and sought an "absolute without God," he wrote works such as Précis de décomposition (1949) and Syllogismes de l'amertume (52) in a sharp, proverbial style that thoroughly criticized existing systems of thought and belief, that is, all "illusions" constructed by humans. Other works include Histoire et utopie (60) and Ecartèlement (79).

フランスの批評家。ブカレスト大学で哲学を学び，1937年にパリ留学，以後フランスに定住。「生を受けたという不都合」のなかで虚無と対峙しつつ，「神なき絶対」を模索するモラリストであり，『崩壊概論』 Précis de décomposition (1949) ，『苦渋の三段論法』 Syllogismes de l'amertume (52) など，箴言のような鋭い文体で，既存の思想や信仰の体系，つまり人間が構築した一切の「幻想」を徹底的に批判した。ほかに『歴史とユートピア』 Histoire et utopie (60) ，『四つ裂きの刑』 Ecartèlement (79) など。
