Blue Flower - Aoihana (English spelling) Heinrich von Ofterdingen

Blue Flower - Aoihana (English spelling) Heinrich von Ofterdingen

An unfinished novel by the German Romantic poet Novalis. Published in 1802. The original title, Heinrich von Ofterdingen, is the name of the protagonist. One morning, Heinrich dreams of a blue flower and is drawn to it. Eventually, he sets out on a journey, meeting various people, including a girl whose features resemble the blue flower, and undergoing a series of mysterious experiences. This is a journey of longing in search of the blue flower he saw in his dreams, and also a journey to become a poet himself. Novalis learned a lot from Goethe's Wilhelm Meister, which was published at the time, but was dissatisfied with the lack of poetry in this work, and so this novel is an ambitious work by Novalis, who inserted mysterious fairy tales and made the whole work poetic and fairy tale-like.
