Japanese: 有明[町] - ありあけ

A former town in Soo County in eastern Kagoshima Prefecture. The Shirasu Plateau that occupies most of the town area was developed by Noikura Jinbei and others between the Taisho and early Showa periods, and is called Noikurabaru. Livestock farming is thriving here, and the town also produces rice, melons, strawberries, and tea. The Nichinan Line and National Route 220 pass through the town. In January 2006, it merged with Matsuyama Town and Shibushi Town in Soo County to become a city, Shibushi City. Area: ^{98.05 km2} . Population: 12,331 (2003).

An old town occupying the northwestern part of Amakusa Kamishima in Amakusa County, Kumamoto Prefecture. It has a large forest area and small cultivated land. It produces sweet oranges, rice, and vegetables, and practices coastal fishing using pole-and-line fishing and fixed net fishing. Its main fishing area is Akasaki, famous for sea bream fishing. In March 2006, it merged with Hondo City, Ushibuka City, Goshoura Town, Kuratake Town, Sumimoto Town, Shinwa Town, Itsuwa Town, Amakusa Town, and Kawaura Town in Amakusa County to become a city. It has an area of 59.63 ^km2 and a population of 6,561 (2003).

A former town in Kishima District, southern Saga Prefecture. Facing the Ariake Sea, the Nagasaki Main Line runs through the center, and the eastern part has been reclaimed land since the Middle Ages. It is an agricultural region centered on rice production, with livestock farming, seaweed farming, and the local specialty lotus root cultivation thriving. In January 2005, it was incorporated into Fukutomi Town and Shiroishi Town in Kishima District. 32.76 ^km2 . 9,005 people (2003).

鹿児島県東部，曾於(そお)郡の旧町。町域の大部分を占めるシラス台地は大正〜昭和初期野井倉甚兵衛らが開田，野井倉原(のいくらばる)と呼ばれる。畜産が盛んなほか，米，メロン，イチゴを産し，茶も栽培。日南線，国道220号線が通る。2006年１月，曽於郡松山町，志布志町と合併し市制，志布志市となる。98.05km²。１万2331人（2003）。

熊本県天草郡，天草上島北西部を占める旧町。山林が広く，耕地が狭い。一本釣や定置網などの沿岸漁業を行い，甘夏ミカン，米，蔬菜を産する。中心はタイ網漁で有名な赤崎。2006年３月，本渡市，牛深市，天草郡御所浦町，倉岳町，栖本町，新和町，五和町，天草町，河浦町と合併し市制，天草市となる。59.63km²。6561人（2003）。
