Coalbrookdale Bridge - Coalbrookdale Bridge

This cast iron arch bridge spans Coalbrookdale upstream of the River Severn in England. It is the world's first iron bridge, built in 1779 by the iron manufacturer Derby. It is now called The Iron Bridge. It has a span of about 30 meters, and the total weight of the iron used is about 380 tons. In recent years, it has undergone major restoration for preservation purposes, but its original shape has been well preserved, making it a valuable heritage in the history of bridge engineering.

イギリスのセバーン川上流のコールブルックデールに架けられた鋳鉄製アーチ橋。世界最初の鉄橋で、1779年に製鉄業者ダービーによって架けられた。現在はザ・アイアン・ブリッジとよばれている。支間約30メートル、使用された鉄の総重量は約380トン。近年、保存のための大改修が行われたが、原形はよく保たれており、橋梁(きょうりょう)技術史上の貴重な遺産となっている。
