Wu Xing - Goko

A district under the jurisdiction of Huzhou City in the northern part of Zhejiang Province, China. Located downstream of the Zhaoxi River, facing Lake Taihu and bordering Jiangsu Province, it has a population of 459,900 (2014). During the Qin Dynasty, Wucheng County was established, and during the Three Kingdoms period, Wu was the administrative center of Wuxing County. During the Song Dynasty, Guian County was separated from the district, and during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was the administrative center of Huzhou Prefecture. In 1912, Guian County was merged with Wuxing County to form Wuxing County. In 1979, Huzhou City was separated from the district, and in 1981 it was incorporated into Huzhou City. In 2003, it became a district under the jurisdiction of the city.

It is the center of the sericulture region of the Hangzhou-Jiahu Plain, where silk reeling and silk textile production developed from the latter half of the Ming dynasty, and it remains the province's largest silk textile industrial area today. Woli Town in the eastern part of the district is known as a cotton distribution center and one of the country's largest producers of children's clothing. It is the earliest developed region in Jiangnan, with fertile soil and abundant rice production, and during the Song dynasty it was said that "when Suhu (Suzhou and Huzhou) are ripe, the world will be satisfied." Located in the water town area of ​​the Hangzhou-Jiahu Plain, inland water transportation is well connected.

中国、浙江(せっこう)省北部にある湖州(こしゅう)市の市轄区。苕渓(ちょうけい)の下流に位置し、太湖(たいこ)に臨み江蘇(こうそ)省に隣接する。人口45万9900(2014)。秦(しん)代に烏程(うてい)県が置かれ、三国呉代は呉興郡の治所であった。宋(そう)代に帰安(きあん)県を分置し、明(みん)・清(しん)代は湖州府の治所とされ、1912年帰安県を合併して呉興県と改めた。1979年湖州市を分置し、1981年湖州市に編入。2003年同市の市轄区となった。

 杭嘉湖(こうかこ)平原の養蚕地帯の中心で、明代後半より製糸、絹織物の生産が発達し、現在も省最大の絹織物工業地帯である。区東部の織里鎮は木綿の集散地、国内最大級の子供服の生産地として知られる。江南でもっとも早く開発された地方で、土壌が肥沃で米の生産が多く、宋代には「蘇湖(蘇州と湖州)熟すれば天下足る」とまでいわれた。杭嘉湖平原の水郷地帯にあるだけに内陸水運は四通八達している。
