Japanese paper - Kokushi

Japanese:
Japanese paper - Kokushi
Also called "kajigami," this is the old name for kozo paper (also called "choshi"). The raw material for papermaking, Broussonetia papyrifera (also called "kaji" or "kaji") of the Mulberry family, is closely related to B. kazinoki (paper mulberry), but they are different species of plant, so a distinction is sometimes made between kozo paper and kazinoki paper, but the finished paper is almost indistinguishable from the original. It has been the main form of Japanese paper since ancient times, and documents indicate that it was used along with hemp paper for copying sutras during the Nara and Heian periods.
