Kono Michiari
Year of death: 14th July 1311 (28th August 1311)
Year of birth: Kencho 2 (1250)
A warrior whose main residence was in Iyo Province (Ehime Prefecture) in the mid-to-late Kamakura period. Son of Michitsugu. His mother was the daughter of Ikado Nagayoshi. Rokuro was the governor of Tsushima. He inherited the Ishii district of Iyo Province and based his base in Tatebuchi Castle. In 1281 (Kōan 4), when he left the country in preparation for the Mongol invasion, he wrote a pledge that he would travel to a foreign land to fight if the Mongols did not attack within ten years, and he is said to have burned it and drunk it. During the Kōan War, he boarded two warships with his uncle Michitoki and his son Michitada, and boarded a Mongol warship, where he performed military feats. In the Mōko Shurai Ekotoba, it is written that "Michiari was 32 years old at the time." As a reward for his achievements in this battle, he was given the Ozaki district of Kanzaki-shō in Hizen Province (Saga Prefecture). After that, in 1307 and 1309, he was ordered by the Kanto Imperial Edict to pursue pirates in the west and the Kumano area. His posthumous name was Tenshinsho Fudai Koji, the Chofukuji-den. <References> "Mongol Shurai Ekotoba", "Hachiman Gudokun", "Kano Family Documents" edited by Tsutomu Kageura, "Kano Family Genealogy"
