The oldest collection of family crests in Japan. Also known as the Higashiyamadono Gomoncho (Crest Book of Higashiyama Palace). The editor is unknown. It mainly focuses on the eastern army of the Onin-Bunmei War, and includes approximately 260 family crests (patterns) from over 240 families, including the Shogunate, Shugo Daimyo, Council of State, Magistrates, and local lords of the time, including Kyogoku Mochikiyo, who died in August 1470 (Bunmei 2). Many were copied as historical records during the Edo period, and there are two versions, roughly divided into one from 1510 and one from 1539, based on the colophon. The oldest surviving copy held by the Iwase Bunko has a colophon that reads "19th day of the Rabbit month, year 8 of Tenbun, Sasaki Hidekatsu (signature)," suggesting it is a handwritten copy, while the former Shokokan copy (a copy by Toru held by the Historiographical Institute, University of Tokyo) has a colophon that reads "Written by Ritsusetsusai on 17th day of the March month, year of the Horse month, year of the Eisho era," and both retain the old style.
