A former town in Taka District, central Hyogo Prefecture. It is located at the confluence of the Saji River, a tributary of the Kakogawa River, and the Sasayama River, and is served by the Kakogawa Line. It is close to Nishiwaki City, the home of Banshu textiles, and has many small and medium-sized textile factories. It also cultivates shiitake mushrooms and raises livestock.
