A thinker and historian of the time of Akbar. Born the son of Sheikh Mubarak, who came from a family of scholars for generations, he served Akbar along with his father and brother, and played an active role as an ideologue supporting Akbar's rule. He wrote the historical work Akbar Nama (The Life of Akbar), and the style of this historical work became the basic form for the biographies of later Mughal emperors. He was hated by Prince Salim (later Emperor Jahangir), and was assassinated on his way back from an expedition to the Deccan. [Ona Yasuyuki]

アクバル時代の思想家，歴史家。代々学者の家系のシャイフ，ムバーラクの子として生まれ，父，兄とともにアクバルに仕え，アクバル支配を支えるイデオローグとして活躍。歴史書《アクバル･ナーマ(アクバル一代記)》を執筆したが，この歴史書のスタイルは，のちのムガル皇帝の一代記の基本的な形となった。彼は皇子サリーム(のちの皇帝ジャハーンギール)に憎まれ，デカン遠征からの帰還途中で暗殺された。【小名康之】
