1822‐76 Slovakian poet and political activist. He participated in the revolution of 1848-49, was imprisoned, sentenced to death, but was released. His poems were in the style of folk songs, and a collection of his works was compiled after his death. His unfinished masterpiece, "Dráma sveta," earned him the name of a revolutionary poet.
