Spider - Spider

Japanese: クモ(蜘蛛) - クモ
Spider - Spider
A general term for the arthropod order Araneae. The body consists of a cephalothorax and abdomen, and usually does not show body segments. They have modified palps instead of antennae. They do not have compound eyes, but usually have eight simple eyes. They have four pairs of walking legs. A poison gland opens at the end of the mandible, and in addition to a trachea, they have a unique lung as a respiratory system. In addition, there are usually three pairs of spinnerets at the rear of the abdomen, and at the end of these many thin tube-like spinnerets open. The type and number of spinnerets connecting to the spinnerets vary depending on the spider's species and gender, and the silk that comes out of these glands is used for different purposes (spider webs). All are carnivorous. They inject venom into their prey to weaken it, then digest it outside their mouths with enzymes released from their mouths, and absorb it in their pump-type stomachs. There are not only spiders that spin webs, but also trapdoor spiders that do not spin webs but build special webs instead, and wandering wolf spiders, and about 1,200 species are known in Japan.
