A serial interface standard used to connect a personal computer to peripheral devices such as printers and modems. It was established by the EIA. The cable length is up to 15m. Initially, it was standardized with a maximum transfer speed of 20kbps, but currently it can transfer data at a maximum of 115.2kbps.
