[1] 〘名〙① 中が空洞になった、細長い棒状のもの。くだ。つつ。「ガス管」「水道管」 〔荘子‐秋水〕② 筆の軸。また、筆。〔詩経‐邶風・静女〕③ くだで作った楽器。金管楽器、木管楽器の区別がある。笛、笙(しょう)、篳篥(ひちりき)などの類。管楽器。※栄花(1028‐92頃)音楽「管を吹き絃を弾き、鼓を打ち、功を歌ひ、徳を舞ふ」 〔詩経‐商頌・那〕④ 笛の一種。穴の六つあるもの。一説に、小さい笛で、二つをあわせて吹くもの。⑤ 前装銃に用いる雷管。小銃の火門に、雷薬をつけて被らせたもの。銅製で、打金で打って火を発す。⑥ 権限によって支配すること。支配されること。また、その範囲。※読本・椿説弓張月(1807‐11)前「官に怕(おそ)れずして管に怕れよ」[2] 〘接尾〙 管楽器、筆など、くだで作られたものの個数を数えるのに用いる。※延喜式(927)一三「兎毛筆七管。鹿毛筆二管」
