Money making - Kinsaku

An industrial city on the Sea of ​​Japan at the southern tip of North Hamgyong Province, North Korea. Its port was opened in 1899. The city stretches from north to south along the east coast with Mount Hakkudō in the background, while the rural areas occupy the eastern foothills of the Mateonryeong Mountains. The city's Seongjin Steelworks is part of the North Hamgyong Coastal District, a metal industry base centered on iron, and produces the only special steel in North Korea. Kim Chaek was the name of a Korean People's Army commander who died in the Korean War, and in 1951 his birthplace, Seongjin City, was renamed Kim Chaek City in honor of his achievements.

北朝鮮、咸鏡北道(かんきょうほくどう／ハムギョンプクド)南端の日本海に臨む工業都市。1899年開港。市街地は鶴頭(かくとう)山を背景に東海岸に沿って南北に展開しているが、農村部は摩天嶺(まてんれい)山脈の東麓(とうろく)を占めている。市内の城津(じょうしん／ソンチン)製鋼所は鉄を中心とする金属工業基地の「咸鏡北道沿海区」の一角をなし、北朝鮮で唯一の特殊鋼を生産している。金策は朝鮮戦争で戦死した朝鮮人民軍司令官の名前で、生前の功労をたたえて1951年彼の出生地城津市を金策市に改名した。
