A translation of the Greek word dogma, also known as "doctrine." Although it is sometimes used in philosophical teachings, propositions that are generally considered to state religious truths. They are particularly important in Christianity, and are considered to be related to revelation rather than reason, which is why they tend to be exclusivist and dogmatic. The doctrine of the Trinity and the doctrine of the diphysites of Christ are its pillars. The Eastern Orthodox Church does not accept the new doctrines established after the Second Council of Nicaea (787), but the Roman Catholic Church does, and "the Immaculate Conception of Mary" and "the infallibility of the Pope" have been doctrines since the 19th century. Dogmatics is the interpretation of these doctrines. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
