A town in Miyaki County, on the eastern edge of Saga Prefecture. The main settlement has long been an important transportation hub, where Kii Station was located during the Ritsuryo period, and is the junction of the Kagoshima Main Line and the Amagi Railway. The town produces tea, persimmons, and mandarin oranges, and is involved in household medicines, gunpowder, and plating industries. In Kisan in the north is a mountain castle (Kii Castle) (a special historic site) that was built in the 7th century to defend Dazaifu. 22.15 km2 . Population: 17,837 (2010).
