Bismuthinite (Bismuthinite)

Japanese: 輝ソウ鉛鉱(輝蒼鉛鉱) - きそうえんこう（英語表記）bismuthinite

Its chemical composition is Bi ₂ S ₃ and it belongs to the orthorhombic crystal system. It rarely forms columnar or needle-shaped crystals elongated in the c- axis direction, but is mostly leaf-shaped, fibrous, or clump-shaped aggregates. It is completely cleaved in {010}. Mohs hardness is 2, specific gravity is 6.8. Fresh surfaces show a tin-white metallic luster, but they often fade and become yellowish. It has the same structure as stibnite Sb ₂ S ₃ , and a continuous solid solution is formed between the two. It is often found associated with slightly high-temperature pneumatogenous to hydrothermal tin veins, silver-cobalt veins, and brass veins.

化学組成はBi₂S₃の鉱物で，斜方晶系に属し，まれにc軸方向に伸長した柱状･針状結晶をなすことがあるが，多くは葉片状，繊維状，塊状集合体。｛010｝にへき開が完全である。モース硬度2，比重6.8。新鮮な面はスズ白色金属光沢を示すが，退色して黄みを帯びていることが多い。輝安鉱Sb₂S₃とは同構造で，両者の間には，連続固溶体が形成される。やや高温の気成～熱水性スズ鉱脈，銀コバルト鉱脈，黄銅鉱脈に伴われて産出することが多い。
