Japanese: 生漉紙 - きずきがみ

Washi paper made purely from paper mulberry fibers, without any other ingredients mixed in. Even if the ingredients are pure, ganpi paper or mitsumata paper are not called kisokishi. This is because paper mulberry is used in overwhelmingly greater quantities and there are many different types, and because paper mulberry paper is often mixed with wood pulp and other materials, it was necessary to emphasize that it was pure paper mulberry.

純粋にコウゾの繊維だけで，他の原料を混ぜずにすいた和紙。原料が純粋であっても，雁皮紙や三椏(みつまた)紙の場合は生漉紙とは呼ばない。それは楮(こうぞ)紙の使用量が圧倒的に多く，種類も豊富であること，とかく楮紙には木材パルプなどが混入される場合が多かったため，純コウゾであることを強調する必要があったことなどが，理由である。
