Born on February 14, 1893. Studied violin at the Tokyo Music School (now Tokyo University of the Arts), and after graduating became a non-regular at his alma mater. In 1921, he began composing children's songs for the magazine "Akai Tori," and composed around 400 songs, including "Yurikago no Uta" (Cradle Song) with lyrics by Kitahara Hakushu, "Yuyake Koyake" (Yuyake Koyake) with lyrics by Nakamura Uko, and "Dokokade Haru ga" (Somewhere Spring) with lyrics by Momota Souji.
