The first feature film made using this system, Vanity Fair (1935), pioneered a unique field in which psychological depictions were emphasized through color effects, and color film was considered to have come of age. The Trail of the Lonesome Pine (1936) was the first film shot outdoors in Technicolor, followed by Desert Garden (1936), A Star is Born (1937), and the British film The Wings of Dawn (1937). With the success of Gone with the Wind (1939), color film reached a peak, and "Technicolor" became synonymous with "color film."
