Kyoto Prefectural School of Painting

Representative examples are the Hakuba-kai Painting Institute, established in 1899, and the Taiheiyo Painting Association Institute (later the Taiheiyo Art School), established in 1904. Meanwhile, in the Kansai region, the Kyoto Prefectural Painting School had already been established in 1880. It was established through the proposals of Tanomura Chokuju, Kono Bairei, Kubota Beisen, and others, and trained new artists in the following schools: Eastern School (Yamato-e), Western School (Western painting), Southern School (Southern painting), and Northern School (Chinese painting).
