The Love Suicides of Kyosukeroku

...It is said that before the Hoei era (1704-11), she committed suicide with a man named Yorozuya Sukeroku, or that after avenging Sukeroku's death, she shaved her head and became a nun, but this is not certain. In November 1706 (Hoei 3), her story was performed at the Soun-za in Kyoto as "Sukeroku Shinju Kamiko Sugata" and at the Kataoka Nizaemon-za in Osaka as "Kyo Sukeroku Shinju."
