Weldon's Ladies' Journal

Japanese: 《Weldon's Ladies' Journal》(英語表記)WeldonsLadiesJournal
Weldon's Ladies' Journal

…The success of the English Women's Domestic Magazine, which reduced its price from one shilling to two pence in 1852 and focused on the household chores of ordinary citizens rather than the pleasures of the wealthy, led to a boom in magazines focused on homemaking. It was in the midst of fierce competition with Myra's Journal of Dress and Fashion (1875) and Weldon's Ladies' Journal (1875) that magazines with clothing patterns and practical articles became viable publishing businesses. In the United States, following Godey's Lady Book (1830), which emphasized fashion illustrations, Harper's Bazar (founded in 1867, later changed to Harpar's Bazaar in 1929) became successful by focusing on articles on clothing.
