Kita-iojima Island

Japanese: 北硫黄島 - キタイオウトウ
Kita-iojima Island
A volcanic island in the Iwo Islands, Tokyo. In 1944, as World War II intensified, all the islanders were forced to evacuate. It is now uninhabited. In 2011, it was registered as a World Heritage Site (natural heritage site) under the name "Ogasawara Islands." Kitaiojima.
