The town is surrounded by hills to the north and south, and the Hontsu River flows northeast through the center, forming an alluvial lowland. The Yosan Line and National Route 11 cross the center. The town was once centered on agriculture using reservoir irrigation, but since it is located between Takamatsu City and Sakaide City, it has become a residential area. Agriculture has shifted from rice and wheat to suburban agriculture such as bonsai, greenhouse horticulture, fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers. The main hall, standing Thousand-Armed Kannon statue, and bronze bell of Shiraushiyama Kokubunji, the 80th temple of the 88 Shikoku temples, are designated as important cultural properties, and 33 huge cornerstones of the Sanuki Kokubunji ruins (special history) remain within the temple grounds. ...
