[Born] Bunka 3 (1806) [Died] December 19, 1866 (Keio 2). Tokiwazu shamisen player and head of the Kishizawa school. Son of the 4th Kishizawa Shikisa. Formerly named Nakasuke. Succeeded to his name in 1825. Succeeded to the 4th Koshikibu name in 53. In 60 he fell out with the 2nd Tokiwazu Bungo Daijo. He became independent as a Kishizawa school performer, and trained tayu to compete with the Tokiwazu head. In 64 he took the name Takeyusai. A master composer, he composed most of the famous Tokiwazu songs, including "Sanjinsui," "Noriaisen," "Masakado," "Sanseisou," "Yamauba," and "Kakubei."
