Kimi Kishigami

...It incorporates Western vocal styles into Japanese music, and the influence of Toumeibushi can also be seen. It is considered a typical example of new Japanese music, and its leaders were Tomizaki Harunobu (1880-1958), Miyagawa Genji (Kiyomoto Eijuro, 1904-63), and Hara Nobuko (1893-1979), and its representative singers were Kishigami Kimi (1898-1962) and Mishima Reiko (1905-88). In 1968, it split into two factions, with Mishima, who changed his name to Yamato Miyoki, and Yamato Hisamitsu (Yoshimura Ijushichi, 1938- ), among others, active in the school. ...
