A country in the southeastern part of the Indochina Peninsula. Its official name is the Kingdom of Cambodia. Its capital is Phnom Penh. It is located in the Mekong River basin and is a rice-growing region. Around the end of the 1st century, the Khmer Funan Funan After the prosperity of the Angkor Dynasty from the 6th to 15th centuries, it became a French protectorate in 1863, and gained independence as a kingdom in 1953. Unified elections were held in 1993, and it became a constitutional monarchy with Sihanouk as king. In 2004, Sihamoni became the new king. Population 14.45 million (2010). Kampuchea.
