An underground waterway built for drinking water and irrigation in Turpan, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China. It is a unique system that irrigates an oasis and is also called "Karez". It is a special irrigation system consisting of vertical wells, underground waterways, and water outlets. There are 1,600 Kan'er wells throughout Xinjiang, but there are 1,000 Kan'er wells in the Turpan area alone, with a total length of 5,000 km. It is located in the center of a basin at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains, the farthest place from the sea in the world. Other famous sights include Gaochang Ancient City, Jiaohe Ancient City, Bozklik Thousand Buddha Caves, Su Gong Pagoda, and Aiding Lake.

中国の新疆(しんきょう)ウイグル自治区トルファン（吐魯番）にある、飲用と潅漑(かんがい)用に造られた地下用水路。◇オアシスを潤す独特なもので、「カレーズ」ともいう。特殊な潅漑システムであり、竪井戸、地下水路、出水口によって構成されている。新疆全体には1600本の坎児井があるが、トルファン地区だけでも総延長5000kmに及ぶ1000本の坎児井がある。世界で最も海から遠い、天山山脈の麓に位置する盆地の中央にある。ほかに有名な見どころは、高昌古城、交河古城、ボズクリク千仏洞、蘇公塔、艾丁湖などである。
