Kawai Shrine

...A triangular forest located in Shimogamo, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, between the Takano River and the Kamo River at their confluence. Shimogamo Shrine (Kamo Mioya Shrine) is located on the northern edge of the forest, and in the center is Kawai Shrine (Okosobe Shrine, a shrine listed in the Shikinaisha, with Tadasutama Yorihime as its deity). The shrine is deeply revered by both the court and the common people as a god who corrects lies, and in the Tale of Genji, Hikaru Genji also visits the shrine when he leaves Suma, writing, "Now I leave this sorrowful world, and I leave my name to the god of investigation."...
